Comprehensive satellite component and payload testing  with realistic signals and scenarios is a must. Vector signal generators from Rohde & Schwarz support all relevant frequency bands and all major standards, including DVB-RCS2/-S2, DVB-S2X with beam hopping and OneWeb. The signals can be used for noise power ratio measurements or amplifier testing. Highly realistic lab-based simulations of future operations can be carried out before a device is launched into space.

Linearity and gain transfer measurements for any communications standard

In-depth validation of frequency converters, amplifiers and satellite payloads is vital. The wideband baseband of the R&S®SMW200A together with the R&S®FSW signal and  spectrum analyzer with its R&S®FSW-K18 amplifier measurement option are ideal for measuring gain transfer functions. The R&S®SMW200A can also apply digital predistortion in real time or highly linear power sweeps from the digital baseband.

Flexible test signal design 

Multicarrier CW signals

The R&S®SMW200A vector signal generator and the R&S®FSW signal and spectrum analyzer are a lean and convenient solution for measuring DUT group delay. The user interface on the R&S®FSW comes with the R&S®FSW-K17 multi-carrier group delay option. The R&S®SMW can autonomously control the generated MCCW (R&S®SMW-K61) signal for center frequency, power level, number of carriers and carrier spacing.
