Test Solutions Based on R&S®CMX500 Platform
The evolution of mobile communication enters 5G New Radio (NR) era with pivotal features. Voice call service is however still considered as an indispensable element for mobile devices and worldwide network operators continue to maintain the voice service for their subscribers. In comparison to other Over-the-Top (OTT) voice services, such as WhatsApp©, Teams© etc., Voice over NR (VoNR) and Voice over LTE (VoLTE) maintain QoS, support well established handover mechanism and emergency call, and do not require to pre-install OTT app on the phone.In order to provide premium voice service and enhance the superb user experience, audio tests on mobile devices are essential before the product launch. Different audio test aspects among which acoustic, functional, performance and field tests need to be considered.This application note describes the performance test with focus on VoNR audio quality measurement via electrical interface of the mobile device. The test solution is based on R&S®CMX500 with its integrated POLQA algorithm.

I would like to do a Reference Calibration using ELEKTRA and Field Probe. For this I have to do Reference Calibrations at 16 positions, this does mean my Field Probe have to be set to each of the 16 predefined points. I set the probe positions manually, so an error can occur by mistake. Is it possible to repeat a measurement for a sensor position, if needed?
The R&S®SMW200A vector signal generator and R&S®FSW signal and spectrum analyzer from Rohde & Schwarz deliver the required performance for transmitter and receiver design and enable design engineers to measure signal quality such as error vector magnitude (EVM) of -40 dB or even better for wideband signals at cm-wave frequencies.
The radiocommunication test setup is based on the R&S®CMX500. It measures RF parameters of 5G NR transmission and can be used to analyze signaling behavior of 5G and LTE protocol stacks. The R&S®CMX500 has a modular design and is opearated through a state-of-the-art web-based user interface, which makes it easy for users to configure their tests for RF parametric and data end-to-end analysis.
The R&S TSME6 network scanner together with the R&S ROMES software is a powerful solution to carry out 5G NR network measurements in FR1 and with additional hardware in FR2.

Signal source analyzer from Rohde & Schwarz in operation at laboratories of US Air ForceAFMETCAL, the Air Force Metrology and Calibration Authority, has ordered signal source analyzers (SSA) from Rohde & Schwarz. They will be operated in AFMETCAL’s precision measurement equipment laboratories (PMEL’s) and Air Force primary standards laboratory (AFPSL). The signal source analyzers are used for calibration of phase noise analog (AM, FM & PM) and digital modulation measurements. For phase noise measurement Rohde & Schwarz has also provided cross-correlation offering very high sensitivity, flexibility and fast measurement speed — all in one box.

The R&S®CMX500 5G and LTE radio communication tester fully emulates a controllable cellular network and enables audio samples to be exchanged with the labCORE. A 5G antenna is connected to the R&S®CMX500, enabling over the air network transmission and then a martphone attaches to the 5G network and connects to the car handsfree system.
The R&S®SMA100B RF and microwave analog signal generator from Rohde & Schwarz combines highest output power, lowest phase noise and lowest wideband noise making it ideal for high-resolution ADC/DAC testing as demonstrated in this video. Enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), one of the 5G use cases, targets wider bandwidths at frequencies in the mmWave range to achieve the promised Gbps experience.
It also demonstrates effective RF measurements based on the R&S®CMW500 wideband radio communication tester. Since the R&S®CMW500 emulates the LTE network and the receiving device simultaneously, the correct sending of the discovery message can be verified in addition.
