Rohde & Schwarz supports the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset
Mobile network operators face a challenge every year due to new smartphone introduction with enhanced features into the market. However, the goal of mobile network operators to ensure ideal Quality of Experience (QoE) remains the same to avoid any disruption to their network performance.
Rohde & Schwarz mobile network testing supports the latest flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, which will be an essential part of upcoming flagship devices such as Samsung Galaxy S24 models.
This is an enabler to service providers and mobile network operators to get a comprehensive overview of the device and feature performance in their networks, even before the official launch of the device.
Embarking on the engineering brilliance Gregor Tomic, Product Manager says, “We have again managed to timely meet customers’ expectations, enabling them verification of the latest flagship devices before the official market introduction. With every new chipset, there are many new procedures, technical aspects and parameters that have to be thoroughly tested and analyzed in the network engineering phase, to avoid potential end-user-centric issues or network degradation. R&S®ROMES4, our universal mobile network testing software, is now upgraded to support mobile network engineering and troubleshooting with devices based on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset."
In the R&S®ROMES4 print screen further below, we visualized a few key parameters, including:
- 3GPP overview, displaying a 5G NR carrier aggregation connection, including details on throughput, used carrier bandwidth and physical downlink channel (both UL and DL)
- Layer 3 downlink and uplink decoding, offering valuable insights into the communication between the device and the network (such as BWP switching procedures), which is a great tool for troubleshooting purposes
- LTE/5GNR RRM Mobility Analysis View, offering valuable insights into the mobility procedures and potential network failures
- 5G NR Bandwidth part View with detailed visualization of configured BWPs and related parameters
