China Mobile purchases R&S SMM100A vector signal generator for 5G testingRecently, China Mobile has selected the R&S SMM100A vector signal generator from Rohde & Schwarz to validate its 5G technology. The new signal source generates 5G signals in research applications to verify current and future 5G technologies. The project is a continuation of the long term cooperation between China Mobile and Rohde & Schwarz China.

Qualcomm Technologies has validated the solution, and it is now supported by the Qualcomm® Development Acceleration Resource Toolkit (QDART) for Small Cells. Manufacturers of small cell infrastructure who integrate the Qualcomm® FSM100 5G RAN Platform in their products can expect that the R&S CMP200 fulfils all necessary hardware development and production test requirements.

Rohde & Schwarz announces unique 56 GHz and 67 GHz frequency options for R&S SMW200A vector signal generatorRohde & Schwarz has introduced not just one but two new maximum frequencies for the R&S SMW200A vector signal generator, bringing previously impossible high performance to digitally modulated signals up to 67 GHz and beyond. The R&S SMW200A is first to enable flat frequency response and 2 GHz modulation bandwidth above 44 GHz. In addition to all applications already supported up to 44 GHz, the 100 kHz to 56 GHz option covers all currently used 5G frequencies, plus earth-to-satellite applications. The 100 kHz to 67 GHz option also supports planned higher frequency 5G bands, the 60 GHz WiGig band, and inter-satellite links.
With the displayed setup, we can successfully cover both use cases in FR1 and FR2 frequency ranges, now up to 53 GHz with the new TSMS53DC downcoverter.
