Oscilloscope software

The R&S®RTP and R&S®RTO oscilloscope supports serial triggering and decoding of 100BASE-T1 or BroadR-Reach and 1000BASE-T1 Automotive Ethernet standards. Efficiently trigger on frame start, Idle frames, MAC frames including destination & source address, frame types and on various error conditions.

Starting from the app cockpit, it only takes a few steps to configure any given protocol. Once the bus to decode has been chosen, the connected channels selected and the correct levels set, decoding begins automatically.

Simultaneous decoding of both Ethernet data streams

Best fixture: R&S®RT-ZF5

The R&S®RT-ZF5 fixture allows you to decode both the forward and reverse data streams of either 100BASE-T1 or 1000BASE-T1 at the same time. You can compensate the directivity of the fixture to obtain accurate decoding results.

You can analyze the decoded bus on different decode layers. Most important is the ternary signals to directly correlate the decoding to the electrical signal. For further analysis, you can additionally show the scrambled and descrambled bits.

You can analyze the decoded bus frames by overlaying the signal with color-coded data. Address and data content can be displayed in hex, bin or ASCII format. You always have the best overview with the flexible screen setup. The protocol details can also be displayed in a concise table. Select the data format and decode layer that best fits your analysis needs.

Strong trigger capability

Strong trigger capability on frame start, idle frame, MAC frame and addresses, frame type and data and various error conditions.

The protocol-specific trigger lets you reliably isolate protocol events and errors. Thanks to high acquisition rates, Rohde & Schwarz oscilloscopes are ideal for finding errors quickly, allowing decoding of protocol-specific trigger results. The hardware-based triggering is available on specific protocol content, e.g. addresses, data and protocol errors.

Search and navigate in recorded acquisitions

Powerful search and navigate capability

Comprehensive search functions simplify the analysis of long signal sequences. You can search for waveforms based on different criteria, such as signal faults or protocol content. All detected events are shown in a table with timestamps. The individual events can be examined in a zoom window with simple navigation between events.
