Improving Campus Connectivity through Mobile Network Testing
Universities and corporate campuses present a variety of wireless communication challenges; private networks offer the required flexibility, performance, security and control for improved quality of service and quality of experience. Determining the ideal configuration for a private network requires expertise and testing across a variety of performance factors.
After numerous complaints about “dead zones” in newly constructed lecture halls, one university enlisted private networking experts to enhance campus wireless coverage. To prove and improve their private network solution, the network provider turned to Rohde & Schwarz to leverage our mobile network testing solutions. Through a series of walking test campaigns, our team mapped signal characteristics including RSRP and band coverage across three major carriers and the university’s private network to identify gaps in coverage and performance. The results of these tests revealed the most strategic positions for additional Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) radios for optimal network performance.
