With the deployment of 5G TDD networks, the mobile network community talks about the importance of network synchronization and the use of uniform TDD patterns across different networks for the proper operation of mobile radio networks. However, the real value lies in the lessons learned from actual network measurement results.
The key question is always how severe the effects of non-synchronized cells and different TDD patterns in neighboring networks even on different frequency bands are on network KPIs. To quantify this, R&S, in collaboration with TU Dresden and Advancing Individual Networks GmbH (AIN), conducted a measurement campaign using movable networks with full control over all network parameters.
This quantification is crucial for predicting and assessing potential interference scenarios before deploying and operating a new site. Possible scenarios include cross-border situations, interactions between private networks / campus networks and public mobile networks, and accidental synchronization chain breaks or misconfigurations within the network.
By attending, you will:
- Understand how intermodulation creates interference in TDD networks
- Explore details about the network configuration and measurement campaign
- Learn how critical the performance degradation can be
