Features & benefits

Vector signal generator up to 67 GHz

The R&S®SMW200A covers the frequency range up to 67 GHz as a single-path instrument and up to 44 GHz as a dual-path instrument. It can also be equipped with a maximum of two internal baseband modules and four fading simulator modules. This concept yields two full-featured vector signal generators in a single unit, enabling easy generation of complex signal scenarios.

2 GHz bandwidth with excellent modulation characteristics

The wideband I/Q modulator with up to 2 GHz RF bandwidth covers all applications in its frequency range, including wireless communications, satellite communications and radar. The internal baseband can generate signals with a maximum 2 GHz RF modulation bandwidth.
State-of-the-art D/A converters and excellent RF chain design ensure exceptional modulation frequency response of < 0.4 dB over 2 GHz bandwidth with excellent EVM performance. The R&S®SMW200A generates 5G NR signals (100 MHz channel bandwidth, 64QAM, 3.4 GHz carrier frequency) with an EVM of 0.1% (meas.), or WLAN IEEE802.11be signals (320 MHz, 7 GHz carrier frequency) with an EVM of -53 dB (meas.).

MIMO and integrated fading on board

The R&S®SMW200A offers integrated channel emulation for up to 800 MHz of fading bandwidth. Fading profiles for all major standards are available as presets. With up to 64 fading channels, all key MIMO fading scenarios such as 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, 8x4, 4x8 and 8x8 can be configured in a single instrument. Aggregation of up to eight carriers is also supported and SGT100A signal generator modules can be connected to provide up to eight RF paths.

Unique usability features

The built-in R&S®SMW200A graphics function displays generated signals in real time. The user can select the type of display, e.g. I/Q vs. time, frequency spectrum, vector diagram or CCDF. The R&S®SMW200A also offers a SCPI macro recorder with code generator, which records all manual operating steps to generate a file with a remote command sequence. Integrated code templates are provided for directly generating executable code for MATLAB®, CVI or Python.
