This video shows how you can precisely characterize the ESR and ESL of electric vehicle traction inverter DC-link capacitors over a frequency range of interest using the Zurich Instruments MFIA impedance analyzer.
The solution can be extended with the addition of control software, an oscilloscope and suitable fixture to conduct and in-depth examination of the DC-link capacitor. The video shows the various steps in the procedure including calibration, configuring the equipment, executing the measurement and analyzing the results.
