Abdul Karim Abdul Razak is the Head of Standards Development Department, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission. He is responsible for the development of technical standards which is amongst others aimed at promoting network interoperability and safety of network facilities and customer equipment according to the CMA 1998. He participates regularly in various standardization activities at national, regional and international levels specifically under APT and ITU. Apart from that, he is also overseeing the development and implementation of certification programs for communications equipment, amateur radio operator’s certificate, general operator’s certificate, restricted operator’s certificate and cabling providers either undertaken directly by MCMC or through its registered certifying agencies. Among the current initiatives under his purview includes Market Surveillance, Mutual Recognition Arrangement and Check Your Label. He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University of Science and Technology.
