Key facts

  • Omnidirectional reception of horizontally and vertically polarized signals
  • High linearity
  • High immunity to lightning strikes in the vicinity
  • Extremely compact
  • High sensitivity – comparable to that of much larger passive antennas

Active antenna system for horizontally and vertically polarized waves

The R&S®HE016 active antenna system combines the R&S®HE010E active rod antenna and two crossed HF dipole antennas. The two horizontal dipole antennas are combined using a 90° coupler to produce an omnidirectional radiation pattern. The high sensitivity of the antenna system is comparable to that of passive systems, although the R&S®HE016 requires less than one third of the antenna surface of a passive system.

Features & benefits

Omnidirectional reception of linearly polarized signals

For better monitoring results

The R&S®HE016 active antenna system combines the R&S®HE010E active rod antenna and two crossed HF dipole antennas. The two horizontal dipole antennas are combined using a 90° coupler to produce an omnidirectional radiation pattern and improve monitoring performance.

High sensitivity

For detection of weak signals

The advanced design makes the sensitivity of the R&S®HE016 antenna system comparable to that of a passive antenna but only with one third of a passive system’s antenna surface.

Extremely compact

For installations where space is limited

The two horizontal dipoles and the vertical antenna are arranged orthogonally for optimum adaptation to any receive conditions by selecting the most suitable antenna. The compact antenna system dimensions (length of horizontal antennas approx. 2.85 m, length of vertical antenna approx. 1.4 m) make it ideal for applications where space is limited.

High immunity to nearby lightning strikes

Safety and security for personnel and equipment

The R&S®HE016 can withstand most nearby lightning strikes. Direct strikes can damage the antenna. However, lighting energy is still directed to the ground over the antenna flange and mast. The mast must comply with current lightning protection regulations.
