mmWave converter FAQ

Which frequency bands can be covered?

The converters cover the frequency bands between 50 GHz and 1.1 THz. With the same setup for R&S®ZNA or R&S®ZVA measurements in all of those bands can be done, just the appropriate converters have to be connected. So the setup is modular, by exchange of the converter module the frequency range can be upconverted into the frequency range of the converter in use.

How to calibrate a millimeter-wave setup?

For every converter band an appropriate waveguide calibration kit is available. Up to 110 GHz a calibration can also be done on the coaxial 1mm interface, a 1mm calibration kit and adapters from WR15/12/10 to 1mm are available as well.

Can active devices be measured?

Yes, amplifier and mixer measurements can be done. The output power of the converters can be varied for power sweeps and compression point measurements. With R&S®ZNA also frequency converting measurements can be done, e.g. a downconverter can be characterized in amplitude and phase.
