Key facts

  • High antenna gain requiring low amplifier power
  • No change of antennas needed over wide frequency range
  • Uniform object irradiation due to optimized radiation patterns
  • Compact size
  • Antenna gain approximately constant over the whole frequency range

Log-periodic antenna for EMS measurements

The R&S®HL047 high gain log-periodic antenna combines excellent broadband characteristics and a radiation pattern that is approximately rotation symmetrical, making it ideal for EMS immunity testing. The high antenna gain means the required field strengths can be achieved with lower amplifier power relative to existing systems. The final radiators can be detached to reduce antenna dimensions and weight for easy transportation and storage. Operation at frequencies above 200 MHz is possible without end radiators. Its compact size, extremely wide frequency range and detachable radiators make it ideal for test chambers.

Features & benefits

High antenna gain

Low amplifier power required

The antenna is designed for high gain that remains approximately constant over the whole frequency range. Lower amplifier power is needed to achieve the required field strengths for EMS measurements.

No need to change antenna from 80 MHz to 6 GHz

For faster measurements

Since the antenna must not be changed across the whole frequency range, measurement times are much shorter and measurement throughput higher.

Optimized radiation patterns

For uniform object radiation

The antenna is designed for optimized, approximately rotation-symmetrical radiation patterns providing uniform object irradiation. The rotation-symmetrical patterns allow the antenna polarization to be changed with hardly any effect on radiation characteristics.

Compact size

Ideal for test chambers

The compact size and detachable radiators make the antenna ideal for test chambers. The detached radiator structures can be stored conveniently on the optional R&S®HL047Z1 movable trolley for transportation and storage.
