Key facts
The PAM-N analysis option enables measurements on signals up to PAM-8 order. With the option installed, the R&S®RTP and RTO6 oscilloscopes offer additional PAM-N analysis capabilities within automated measurements, advanced eye as well as jitter and noise analysis.

The PAM-N analysis option enables measurements on signals up to PAM-8 order.
For easy signal configuration, select a respective interface standard in the Signal Configurator. For advanced customization, use the full control for the definition of signal levels and reference levels for all PAM levels and transitions.

Verify specific transitions and levels
The PAM option enables additional functionality for jitter
and noise analysis. With the PAM enabled SW-CDR, jitter
and noise decomposition becomes available for the various
PAM signal components. For in-depth analysis dedicated
jitter and noise components can be selected for
defined base and target PAM levels.

Define the focus
With activated PAM option, also PAM-N eye mask tests and eye measurements become available. Dedicated transitions and eye levels can be defined for the individual eye measurements. For the actual eye diagram, the user can choose between "whole eye", "specific eye" and "selected eye" filter mode.

"Live Eye" on PAM signals
For live-eye analysis, the R&S®RTP features a unique
HW-CDR that supports also PAM signals with a maximum
symbol rate of 3.8 GBaud/s. Benefit from the fast acquisition rate and contiously running CDR to validate signal quality over a long time or capture rare signal faults reliable.
