CERTIUM VCS utilizes all benefits of IP technology
CERTIUM VCS is a quad-redundant, IP based voice communications system that integrates perfectly into the entire CERTIUM portfolio for safe, secure and efficient airspace operations. It combines a state-of-the-art, flexible and resilient IP based architecture with strong security mechanisms. It is flexible enough for both small towers and nationwide systems with multiple area control centers and hundreds of controller working positions. CERTIUM VCS has advanced functions that can support remote digital tower systems or connect area control centers to virtual centers for quick and flexible transfers between centers and even countries.
The flexibility, redundancy and security of IP technology makes it the worldwide basis for state-of-the-art communications systems. Rohde & Schwarz was one of the manufacturers to use this powerful technology in the fully IP based CERTIUM VCS system. The IP network is at the heart of the VCS solution. It connects all components together. The distributed architecture has great resiliency options.
Secure VCS for critical infrastructure
The extensive experience at Rohde & Schwarz in developing critical infrastructure systems was used in the implementation of CERTIUM VCS systems. The level of security is in line with the recommendations in the Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS), the Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) and the Eurocontrol VOTE Security Handbook.
ATC grade resilience for uninterrupted system operation
Safe airspace requires steady and uninterrupted communications between pilots and controllers, even during unforeseen events such natural catastrophes. Rohde & Schwarz included unique mechanisms in the VCS system for outstanding availability even with multiple outages. This increases airspace safety and security.
Easy operation for air traffic controllers
The well-structured and clear user interface simplifies work for air traffic controllers. The screen is organized into functional areas. Color coded displays inform controllers about the status of radio resources, the number of controllers connected to those resources, the receive signal strength and the best signal selection. Audio management, obtain more information about the radio or reconfigure the frequency.
