R&S®ESR EMI test receiver for compliance testing

The R&S®ESR is an EMI test receiver build to measure electromagnetic disturbances using conventional stepped scans or ultrafast FFT based time domain scans. It also functions as a powerful signal and spectrum analyzer. The receiver features real-time spectrum analysis with a wide range of diagnostic tools for detailed analysis of disturbance signals and their history. With these tools, users can detect hidden or sporadic emissions and analyze their causes. The R&S®ESR comes with intuitive menus on an easy to use touchscreen. Compact dimensions, low weight, optional ruggedized housing and optional DC power supply make the R&S®ESR an ideal choice also for mobile applications.

Caractéristiques & avantages

Compliance testing

In line with all relevant standards

The R&S®ESR complies with commercial standards CISPR 16-1-1 and FCC. With the R&S®ESR-B29 option, the instrument also complies with ANSI C63.2 and MIL‑STD‑461 with all required bandwidths and detectors. Thanks to preconfigured limit lines and test automation, the instrument is the ideal choice for EMI tests in line with all relevant standards.

Real-time measurements

Resolution of even the shortest interferences

The R&S®ESR captures signals in real time without any time gaps and with a bandwidth of up to 40 MHz. Even the shortest pulses are resolved and displayed intuitively in the persistence spectrum and spectrogram. Those displays can detect signals that are otherwise hidden. Sporadic, pulsed or drifting signals are easy to identify with the real-time spectrum analysis option.

Advanced user interface

Designed for convenient operation

The R&S®ESR features a touchscreen for convenient and intuitive operation on the 8.4" display even for less experienced users. Integrated context-sensitive help provides detailed information about the current function.

Fast scanning speeds

Fast measurements with time domain scan

Speed is crucial. The R&S®ESR offers ultrafast FFT based time domain scanning that is orders of magnitude faster than the conventional mode. Scans in CISPR bands are performed in milliseconds while conducted disturbances up to 30 MHz are measured in one segment in real time.

Test automation enables individual configuration for each CISPR band to utilize the full capability of the ultrafast time domain scanning.

Ideal for mobile use

Robust and compact with battery power option

R&S®ESR is ideal for mobile use in the field. DC power is available with an optional external battery pack. The optional ruggedized housing and the solid-state drive (SSD) provide optimum vibration, shock and temperature (permissible range +5 °C to +40 °C) resistance.
